However, when planning the layout of warehouse shelves, it is also necessary to consider the management method and storage method, that is, whether it needs to be first in first out, whether it needs forklift access and so on.

There is no final decision on how many channels are left between the metal storage shelves, but should be determined according to the site conditions and actual needs.When loading and unloading goods manually, it is generally between 80cm and 120cm; when forklift loading and unloading operations, it depends on the model of the forklift. Small forklifts should leave 2 meters, usually 2.4m or 2.6m, and some large forklifts may need to leave 4 meters.

At the same time, the number of channels between the shelves can be reduced according to the requirements of the management method. For example, the double-depth shelf has half of the channels compared with ordinary heavy duty storage shelves, and the drive-in shelf is a whole-building shelf with fewer channels. However, the picking rate of these two racks cannot reach 100%, which is suitable for warehouses with batches of first-in, first-out.

How to calculate the channel between warehouse shelves:

1.For all manual handling operations, the distance between the parts in the storage location should be greater than the width of the larger packing box used in the storage location.

2. A pallet needs to be placed at the bottom of the storage location, the upper layer is handled manually, and the distance between the storage locations is the rotatable diameter of "manual forklift + pallet".

3. The storage location needs electric forklift to transport, and the distance between storage locations is the swivel diameter of "electric forklift + upper pallet" + U-turn insurance distance.
